The School of Business and Technology at Excelsior College is seeking candidates for the position of Faculty - Technology. The main function of this position is to assist with the management of Excelsior College technology programs, including course scheduling, faculty screening and assignments, and course and curriculum reviews. The Faculty - Technology, will also teach three Excelsior online technology courses per year, and will professionally represent Excelsior College within the academic community.  This position is a full-time, year-round position located in Albany, New York.
Responsibilities: Instruct and/or develop courses and guided learning activities and materials, Assist in identifying faculty to serve in various capacities, Participate in faculty committees, Implement, evaluate and revise courses, assessments and guided learning activities and materials, Participate in activities supportive of the College’s strategic plan and the goals of the School of Business and Technology, Represent the College at professional meetings and forums, Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.  Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: A Master’s in Technology related field is required, a PhD is preferred. Interdisciplinary background in technology is helpful.  A minimum of five years of progressive experience at a regionally accredited institution of higher education, and/or five years of experience as an administrative leader in a major business or industry corporation. Experience in distance education and online course management systems is desirable.  Experience teaching and developing online courses with Blackboard required, WebCT experience preferred.  Software experience required:  Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes.  Excellent organizational as well as oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely by phone, letter, email, fax, and face-to-face.  A high level of problem-solving ability, demonstrated managerial and supervisory experience.

Associate Registrar


Excelsior College is seeking an experienced professional to serve as Associate Registrar in a fast-paced environment.  Reporting to the Registrar, the position requires a strong commitment to non-traditional higher education for adults;  experience and knowledge in registration and student records issues; the ability to build teams and collaborate effectively with all levels of professional and support staff.  This individual will serve as a member of the Office of Registration and Records Management Team.  This is a full-time position located in Albany, NY. Occasional travel required.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Associate Registrar will assist in managing the operational activities of the office.  This includes, but is not limited to supervision of staff members, registration, course scheduling, maintenance of student records, graduation clearance, issuing official documents on behalf of the College, and other related office functions. 
Some of the duties and responsibilities include: Providing leadership to staff members and for processes affecting operational functions of the office; maintaining accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of all student records;  Data collection analysis and preparation of reports for decision making, establishing production, measures, and ensuring compliance; Develop and implement best practices that improve and maintain excellent customer service; Assist with development of the annual budget; Assist in planning and implementing systematic upgrades and enhancements to the college’s student information system (SIS); Support the unit mission and strategic goals of the College; Serve on College committees and represent the unit at meetings; Participate in professional organizations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree required.  Master’s degree strongly preferred; Three to five years of experience in a registrar’s or student records office; Minimum of two years experience as a supervisor; Knowledge of student information systems/databases, including imaging software; Thorough understanding of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA); Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Accuracy and attention to detail; Strong problem solving skills; Ability to work collaboratively and taking initiative; Excellent organizational and decision making skills; Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Test Development Program Manager

The Test Development Program Manager acts as a project manager and test development specialist in planning, constructing, validating, and maintaining a set of standardized written examinations.  The program manager recruits and directs faculty test committees in developing test plans that reflect sound psychometric practice; recruits/supervises subject-matter experts to write, review, and revise test questions, conduct external reviews, and build complete test forms; interprets psychometric data to identify items that function well and diagnose specific problems; and supervises support staff in tasks related to exam development and maintenance.  In addition, the Test Development Program Manager collaborates with other academic units within the college to ensure that curricular needs are being met.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Masters’ degree with coursework and/or experience in tests and measurement;
Two years of experience in project management or direction of consultants;
experience with using spreadsheet and database software
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including communicating with nontechnical audiences;

Assistant Director, Military Academic Programs

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, Center for Military Education, the Assistant Director, Military Academic Programs, will work closely with the military academic advising staff in support of enrolled and prospective student academic advising.  The position will be responsible for the coordination of training activities on military academic policies to the College community, serve as a consultative resource for military academic policies , manage military academic program articulation agreements, prepare degree maps for transfer credit in support of military partnership programs, serve as contact/liaison for Excelsior College military consultants related to military academic issues for prospective and enrolled students, and work toward unit and college strategic planning goals and military enrollment/course goals.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•    Under the Executive Director’s direction, coordinates the work of the Center for Military Education’s advising and admissions staff.  Provide daily supervision to military academic advisors, manage work queues and telephone scheduling, etc.
•    Manage military academic programs to include articulation agreements and degree maps for the military partnership programs, Service members Opportunity Colleges (SOC), and other military MOU agreements.     
•    Serve as consultative resource for military academic policies. Provide guidance/recommendations to internal staff, military consultants, and the external military community. 
•    Collaborate, create, and clarify military academic policies for the Student Affairs Committee and institutional review and implementation. 
•    Represent the Center for Military Education at military meetings and conferences at the request of the Executive Director. 
•    Represent the Center for Military Education Office at Director of Advisement and Evaluation (DAES) meetings.
•    Coordinate training activities related to military academic programs for internal staff, military consultants, and the military community.  
•    Work toward unit and college strategic planning goals and military enrollment/course goals. Other duties as assigned.

The College of Staten Island (CSI) is one of 11 senior colleges of The City University of New York and the only public college on Staten Island.  CSI offers 36 academic programs and 15 masters level graduate degree programs.  In addition, CSI faculty participate in 31 of the 34 CUNY doctoral programs offered through the Graduate Center in Manhattan by mentoring more than 180 students.  Over 130 of these doctoral students are full time on the CSI campus, primarily in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth & Environmental Science, Psychology, Physical Therapy, and Physics.  Located on a 204-acre park-like campus that is minutes away from the cultural riches of Manhattan, the CSI campus is the largest collegiate site in NYC.  CSI contains state of the art laboratories and equipment for scientific research, an advanced, networked infrastructure and is developing a high performance computational center that will support technology-based research, teaching, and learning throughout CUNY.  The College is planning for enrollment growth and for the construction of new residential facilities during the coming five-year period.

Position Description and Duties: The Dean of Science and Technology reports directly to the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs/Provost, and has responsibility for the supervision of faculty recruitment, tenure, and promotion in seven academic departments (Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering Science and Physics, Mathematics, Nursing, and Physical Therapy). Duties include maintenance of the range, depth, and quality of the division’s academic programs; and allocation of budgets among departments and together with the faculty the Dean develops the divisional long-range plan and implements short-range goals. The Dean of Science sits on the Provost’s Council and in concert with the Dean of Research and Graduate Studies is responsible for promoting academic excellence in the sciences and for assuring that students have access to intellectual and practical experiences that will enrich their lives and prepare them for their post-collegiate careers. The Dean is viewed as the academic leader of her/his Division and should be a scholar of repute with a strong background in college teaching and academic administration. 

This is an existing position within the CUNY Executive Compensation Plan, subject to applicable University Policies for job performance, salary, and benefits. Chatham University is seeking three full-time Assistant or Associate Professors in Psychology. Chatham offers three graduate programs in psychology: MA in Psychology; MS in Counseling Psychology; and PsyD in Counseling Psychology. 

The full-time 12-month faculty members will teach and also conduct and supervise research in graduate counseling psychology programs (master’s and doctoral).

Full-time, tenure-track faculty position available in the Department of Drama at Syracuse University.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with strong leadership skills and experience in professional and/or academic administration.  Candidates for the position should have a record of building internal and external relationships including fund-raising in either academic or professional settings. Candidates also should have significant expertise in one or more traditional areas in the study of theatre. The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics at Syracuse University seeks a specialist in Spanish Linguistics to assume a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2009. Candidates should have their Ph.D. in hand by August 2009 and have native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English.
